The Garden Center: "The Crescent"

"The Crescent" a landmark home on the National Register of Historic Places, was built by Col.William S. West in 1898. Three ladies in the Garden Club saved the demolition of the West's former home and in 1951 it became the home of all the Garden Clubsin Valdosta.

It is open to the public Monday through Friday from 2 PM to 5 PM, but closed during major holidays and private events. It is also available for weddings, receptions and parties of the community, and has a large beautiful formal garden maintained by each garden club for the delight of the general public.

Lowndes County Historical Museum

Information

The Museum is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Admission is free.

Features Uniforms and weapons from the Civil War, World War I and World War II; Bibles, and historical records dating back to the 1840's; Original land markers used to form the county lines; One of the largest and most complete research files in existence on Wild West legend "Doc" Holliday.

Directions

From Tallahassee, FL (about 1.5 hours): Take Rt.319 (Thomasville Road) North to Thomasville, GA. From Thomasville take Rt. 84 East through Quitman to Valdosta and I-75. Take I-75 South one exit to I-75, Exit 13. Take a right off the exit and go 4 miles, the park entrance is on the right.

From Jacksonville, FL (about 2 hours): Take I-10 West to I-75. Proceed North on I-75 into Georgia to Exit 13 (Old Clyattville Road) off of I-75. At the end of the ramp turn left. Wild Adventures is 4 miles down the road on the right.

From Savannah, GA (about 3.5 hours): Take I-95 South to Brunswick, Exit 29. When you exit take Rt. 82 West to Waycross. In Waycross, take Rt.84 West to Valdosta. Follow Rt. 84 all the way through Valdosta to I-75. Take I-75 South one (1) exit to Exit 13. At the end of the ramp turn right. Wild Adventures is 4 miles down the road on the right.

From Flea Market (about 17 minutes)

  1. Head northwest on Jewel Futch Rd toward GA-376/Lakes Blvd
  2. Turn left at Clyattville Lake Park Rd/GA-376/Lakes Blvd
  3. Continue to follow Clyattville Lake Park Rd/GA-376
  4. Continue on Oakdale Dr
  5. Turn right to stay on Oakdale Dr
  6. Turn right at Old Clyattville Rd
  7. Destination will be on the right
